Macritchie Treetop Walk: Tuesday, May 30, 2006

25 May 2006, Thursday

Right after my Bintan trip, I found myself waking up at 8.30am in the morning, heading towards Macritchie Reservoir. Great weather, sunny yet not too hot, with just the right amount of clouds in the sky *haha*

Alrights. So min and I had extra kilometres to cover because yours truly is blur enough to alight at the wrong bus stop. So had to walk one more bus stop to meet the rest of them. Hee.

At about 10.10am, all of us arrived, with a few members of ZQ short. But at least we had the majority. =)

So headed towards our destination: the HSBC TreeTop Walk

We saw pictures of it on the internet, looks nice and fun! And so, knowing that this holiday, most of us are probably 'hibernating', a.k.a. inactivity, we thought that such a walk would be good exercise. Gotta shed some weight to fit into those green pants *haha*

Started from the bus stop and took the Prunus Trail... walked.... and walked.. and walked even more. Then to the MacRitchie Nature Trail....

*After 2km+++*

Here's how the trail kinda looks like. Its always different as you walk on... different trees, different plants, different bugs... and different things to be afraid of *haha* Does it remind you of the popular drama series "LOST"?

'Lost' in the 'jungle'.

*Seriously. Never realise Singapore was THAT big to even have such a place. Haha. Okays, mountain tortoise*

Halfway on our journey, managed to take a group picture.. with the camera sitting on top of a biy rock/stone

And then we walked.... again.

So after covering about 7km; after being cheated by the signs that said "1000m to tree top walk" and then we walked on and found another that said "1200m to tree top walk" -_-"; after being scared by i-don't-know-what and with ahma in the front... we finished the Tereniang Trail and arrived at the Ranger's Station for a toilet break. After that, continued on to the treetop walk.

This was the alternative route we took on our way back from the Tree Top walk coz Sime Track was closed due to landslide I think. *Sorry this photo is in the wrong order. Only realise it now and too lazy to change. Haha.* On this alternative trail, we saw several things that uncannily resemble a well. First thoughts - SADAKO! *haha* Had a great time laughing about The Ring.

Ok, back to the main topic. So we finally arrive at the HSBC TreeTop Walk.
But before that can even happen, we had to walk some more once again. This time, STAIRS. At least it was downwards.

And we finally arrive at the TreeTop Walk.

A nice view from there. Great view on the horizon. Great view when you look down at your feet and through the holes on the flooring. Woo! Haha. We trekked about 8km for this 250m bridge/walk. Hmmm..... *haha*

So, it being a one-way bridge, we had to leave the 250 tree top walk... It was nice though. I mean, after that LONG and tedious walk, it was rewarding... somehow. Haha. Walking isn't tough.... just the upslopes, and steep downslopes, the rocks, the soil, the gravel, the bricks, the fallen trees etc.... that makes walking tough. =)

Then we headed back, or at least, out of the trails.... on the way we thought a lot about food. Yes, we were all hungry! It was around 12pm already!

What goes down must come up. Up the stairs... oh my.

And on the way, the photographer (a.k.a. Jo) caught some ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS trying to escape. *haha*

Yeah! We 'conqured' the TreeTop Walk. In all, I think we walked about 14km+++. Not too sure. Haha.

Go try. It's rather fun and great exercise too! Hopefully, now, we can all fit into those auntie-green-pants. Haha.
