"Each person appreciates the world and life's experiences through their own unique 'personal filters'. For occupational therapists, these filters are built upon the fundamental principles of OT, theoretical ideas and concepts, their experiences, culture and personal philosophies of life.
In a practice revolving around the interaction with humans, occupational therapists will find themselves within a chaotic, complex and dynamic system, where reality often does not present itself in an obvious and linear manner.
Therefore, being aware of one's 'personal filters' gives the therapist the insight and understanding to this multifarious system where he/she practices in, and empowers the therapists with the abilities and expertise to impact other beings."
