Masquerade: Sunday, August 26, 2007
The truth about humans, ironic as it always has been.
The meanings we cast on the words of the emotions of the heart, so deceiving.
What is the true meaning?
All forgone. Perhaps, it was only a masquerade.
To learn of the truth, not from thou.
Pain stabs the heart, it bleeds yet does not mend.
What does this speak of?
All deceit. Perhaps, it was only a masquerade.
Yet the mirror it reflects, does not show.
Has fault lie in thee or have thou been blinded from the truth.
What does this show?
All pretense. Perhaps, it was only a masquerade.
The words that silently slayed, the antipodean words that you played;
And thou controverting pernicious judgment - Has all maned thee.
What does thou see in thy mirror?
All abnegation. Perhaps, it was only a masquerade.
Frailties of the human flesh -
To have believed in the meaning of the word.
What does these all lead?
All trampled. Perhaps, it was only a masquerade.
Remove the mask and see thy rotting flesh beneath.
It is not the mirror that doesn't show.
What have thou been denying?
All beastly. Perhaps, it was only a masquerade.
To efface aching memories, I need.
Yet the heart continues to bleed.
What is now left of thee?
All foresaken. It was all only a masquerade.

Masquerade
Paper faces on parade.
Masquerade
Hide your face so the world will never find you.
Look around -
There's another mask behind you.
...
Face of beast.
Faces.
Take you turn
Take a ride on the merry-go-round
In an inhuman race
True is false
Who is who?
Masquerade
You can fool any friend who ever knew you...
