We cannot control the evil tongues of others; but a good life enables us to disregard them.
~ Cato the Elder (Roman orator and politician)

We have been taught that the causes of our problems are usually other people and circumstances. If follows, therefore, that we have also come to expect that the solution to our problems are to be found somewhere outside of ourselves as well - in others and/or in changing circumstances.

This is a fallacy.

When we are conscious, aware, balanced and whole we realise we cannot be hurt by the words of others unless we believe them. We have the power to disregard them. We can then be healthy and happy and we can choose to disregard the 'evil tongues' of others.
