Is it because we living creatures have feelings, and that is really how it sets us apart from the non-living and the artificial-living?
Sometimes, feelings are good. It's nice to be happy. To be able to feel good and relaxed; To be able to look forward to something; To be able to smile at little special moments and persons in our lives.
Yet, more than often, feelings are bad. To be heated and angry; to be frustrated and vexed; to feel helpless and unwanted; to feel disgusted and disappointed.
Ups and downs. High and low. Tumbling down. Rushing up. Soaring high. Endlessly low. That's how feelings go.
Why can't it all be just a constant tangential line?
Without anticipation, we won't know what disappointment is.
Without love, we won't know what hatred is.
Without happiness, we won't know what sorrow is.
If Man could just be a constant line, perhaps, life would not be as it is.
