Non-Living: Saturday, January 16, 2010
Work is something inevitable. And we certainly spend more than half of our time, and lives included, at work. And as with all place, all organisations, and whatsoever, when you work with people, you never expect anything smooth sailing.
When you were at school, there were friends and 'enemies'. 'Best friends forever' and 'Hate you forever'. Because you are with people. That is the problem.
So when you are at work, the same theory applies. The problem is always the people. The people you have to work with. The people you have to spend more than half your time with. Which is certainly unfortunate.
There will be people that you get along with. People you try to get along with. And of course, people you avoid as much as possible. Whatever reasons it maybe, there should always be efforts to work peacefully as a team. Isn't that what our government is trying to ingrain in us? ... "We the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people.... to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality..."
Now, does that really happen to your everyday living? Are we truly in harmony or just being tolerant to everyone and everything? Some day, the tolerance will reach it's maximum and the volcano erupts. That is going to happen. It is only inevitable.
The root of all problems is always people. People are unpredictable. People are different. People put on different masks to different people they face. People lie. People deceive. People are conniving. People hurt other people. People are selfish. People are biased. People are emotional. People can be sway. People think; And therefore, people act.
That's the problem.
So maybe the dawn of the AI world might not be so bad. The root of all problems are solved.
Perhaps, working with non-living things solves everything.
